Do We Really Get It?

Easter Sunday was a great day! I gathered with others in the predawn for a glorious sunrise service. Sitting in the woods and watching the sun come up was a beautiful experience. Hearing a powerful message about the resurrection of Christ from a time tested veteran in Christian ministry was very inspiring. This man of God shared from God’s Word and his heart about the resurrection power that we have available to us in our daily lives.

In our first of three services I heard a powerful message from one beginning his ministry about how the whole Bible pictures God bringing life from death situations, culminating in the resurrection of Christ. We were challenged to respond to the gospel by submitting to His Lordship, to humble ourselves to His likeness, to praise His goodness, and to work for His glory. I was privileged to preach the unchanging gospel of Christ in two later services that morning.

I’m just thinking- do we really grasp the profound significance of the resurrection of Christ? Think about it- Jesus’ resurrection is the ultimate game changer. Satan is defeated, sin is conquered, and Christ’s followers are assured of future resurrection and have victory in this life now. We are not simply following the teachings of some religious leader. Our Lord Jesus was so much more- He is the God-Man that overcame death! He is alive forevermore. No wonder Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 15:57, “But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
